Hit rating

The infamous question, "How much hit rating do i need??"
Ok im going to do my very best to keep this as simple as possible and try not to flood you with equations and calculations and what not.

15.77 hit rating = 1% hit
Dual wielding hit cap for auto-attack with the talent Precision 3/3 is 395
Dual wielding hit cap for special-attack with the talent precision 3/3 is 95

As we rely more on our special attacks rather than our auto attacks we don't need to have a ridicules amount of +hit in fact the bare minimum is 95. But having only 95 hit rating you will feel a lack of rage so if you can aim for about 190 including talents, you wont feel so much of a lack of rage.
So how much hit do you need? ... in the end its up to you. But for best optimization and rage generation aim for about 190.
Again i must stress this is my own personal preference and find that it works best for me.

Um... and how do you arrive at 190? is this just an arbitrary number which you happen to like? A fairly pointless piece of advice in all honesty!

Hey Anonymous
190 is in fact a number i do like for my hit rating, From personal experience i find this is a "sound amount of + hit" i find that my rage income is fantastic and do not feel a lack of it and that i barely miss. Giving the gear i have available to me again i find 190 comfortable with out nurfing any other stat. I'm sure adding more than 190 is feasible. but again im going by gear thats available to the average warrior. Im sorry you find this a piece of pointless advice for your own personal opinion, but again its a guide not fact so it may help some one.
Could i ask you what you would feel is a sound hit rating for a fury warrior? With out adding a load of mathematics as the aim my Blog is to keep it simple for the simple minded :D
Cheers

Sure :)

By pointless btw, I do not mean to make it sound like it is wrong. What i mean to say is that without a reason for the number it is hard to say 'why' it is a good value to aim for.

The point with fury warriors, as you say yourself, is that with 95 hit rating and 3/3 precision, your yellow attacks always hit. From this point onwards your focus should be on crit/ap. Crit = flurry uptime = more swings = more hits.

Obviously rage is a chief concern which can not be ignored. However, hit rating comes very naturally with fury gear, there absolutely no need to focus on it as long as your yellow attacks are hitting. Personally I am into sunwell with around 200 hit rating, but this is purely because the gear I have comes with it, this gear also stacks my crit. I would never wear an item purely for hit rating.

I was raiding with 150 hit rating at start of sunwell and still hitting over 2k dps on brutallus.

Granted that with 95 + 3/3 you may hit some rage issues, I would say that anything over 130 should avoid the majority of rage starve situations.

thanks for the reply Anonymous

Again only from personal experience i found that when using about 120 -140 hit rating i had a higher % miss over all.
After doing a raid in Black temple using the recount add on using 197 hit rating out of 400+ auto swings i got 34 missis, my own personal opinion is that aint to bad, but once i dropped to a lower hit my miss ratio became allot higher
granted thats only auto swings.

Your saying 150 is sound and was getting very good dps, but for me that didnt work so well. Do you raid with a boomking that has improved faerie fire (3% chance increase to hit) if points placed in it are at max 3/3

Unfortunately i do not raid with a boomkin

again thanks for your reply. Any and all information and suggestions and even criticism is welcome so others can learn from what they read as well as me.
